I can’t say that I know everything about furniture,
I do know that it’s a big deal in our home. Furniture is an investment, and every time you buy furniture, you are essentially saying, “I trust you to use it as your own.” I think of it as a trust that we give to someone we know, even if it’s not theirs. That’s why you see so many people buying dining room tables with their home. They are buying furniture because they know that they are going to use it, and they know that they are going to use it well. And every once in a while, I see someone buy a table that they don’t know where they are going to use it, and that's a bad sign.
But it isn’t a sign of a lack of trust—it's just that the person doesn’t know where they are going to use it. Someone could just have bought the table because they felt like it was a nice thing to own. But I don’t think it is a sign of poor planning on the part of the buyer. Many people buy furniture because they don’t know where they are going to use or have used it.
It’s not just furniture that gets us into trouble when we buy it.
The same logic applies to cars, appliances, and anything else that we buy. That’s because we don’t know where something is going to use it and we don’t know how to use something. You can’t just buy the biggest thing you can find and expect it to be useful. Buying a car is different than buying a house because a car is basically a big box that you can take everywhere you go. And the same is true for a kitchen, a couch, or a chair.
That’s why it’s so important to build a habit with something.
You want to buy something that you’re not going to use every day that you just want to be able to put into a corner and let sit for a month and then use it. I’m always surprised at how many “I just want to take a walk now” purchases we come across. So, my friend, the reason you want to buy a sofa, a couch, or a chair, is because you’re going to need it every day, for more than a month. And the reason you want to buy a car is because you’re going to need it every day, for more than a month. The same is true for your kitchen.
The furniture section of our website is full of all kinds of furniture you may want to buy, but all of the items have one thing in common: You are going to need it every day. This is true even if you’re a couch potato, just like the guy who wants to buy a car. Maybe you haven’t changed much in the last ten years, maybe you’re not even aware that you need a new car. The good news is that buying the right kind of furniture today can make all the difference in the world. We’ve put together a list of seven furniture items that will put a dent in your wallet.
