The government doesn’t want you to know about Craigslist.

It would be so much better if the government would want you to know about Craigslist. I realize that the government doesn’t want us to know about Craigslist, but they’re wrong. Craigslist has become a very popular website for individuals and business to sell their wares. This means that it’s very easy for the government to monitor the sites that millions of people go to and see what the government deems to be illegal. It’s called a “dark web” because it’s not in the public eye.

The dark web is the part of the internet that is completely off limits to the government. You can't use it to buy drugs or any sort of illegal goods or services. The government doesnt want to know about this because it would undermine the legitimacy of the online marketplace.

There are a couple of theories about what this means.

One is that the government wants to monitor websites because they want to monitor the entire internet. They want to know if you are buying drugs, gun accessories, or even just selling your own stuff. Its ads are easy to spot, and they usually look like this: "I'll give $10 to anyone who can get me a $5.00 check in the next 30 minutes. I'll even pay you up front if you pay me in advance. I'm interested in people who like to work from home and have a real job. I need someone to help me write a list of people who want to rent my house." It's very clear they're trying to make you do something.

These ads are also easily spotted by the fact that they're often accompanied by a link to Craigslist.

The problem is that Craigslist receives much more spam and junk than other web sites, and it’s a very easy place to find. The trick is to find an ad that looks legit, but that’s an ad that’s been “spoofed. The problem with spam and junk is that it has a way of tricking most web spiders into thinking it is legitimate. If you have a legitimate ad that appears in a legitimate ad space but is accompanied by a link to a link that leads to a page in which the ad appears, then you have a high spam issue. You can also avoid the problem in the same way by only posting ads that you can prove are legitimate.
